Art and design have always been a defining influence in my life. I spent the majority of my youth engaged in creative endeavors via art classes, where I had the opportunity to refine my fine art skills, and at home sewing pillows and clothing, making bracelets, and creating various crafts of all kinds. At some point my bedroom walls even became my canvas, painting murals before murals were even a “thing”. After taking a photography class in high school, I fell in love with the medium, and continued exploring it in college becoming a photographer on the University of Georgia’s Pandora yearbook staff.
While at the University of Georgia I choose to obtain a degree in marketing where I could merge my left and right brain skills. Part of my degree included taking a class in Real Estate, which I found compelling, and which lead me to acquire my Real Estate license after graduation. I enjoyed both the creative and intellectual skills involved in marketing and employed them while working in the real estate profession. I embraced every aspect of the home industry and found I could merge all my skills to design, decorate, then sell homes. While I did this personally, I was often asked to help others, and my work in the interior design industry was born. I recently obtained my interior Design Certificate from the Heritage School of Interior Design in Colorado, where I learned additional skills required for the profession.
My intense desire to create functional and beautiful spaces stems from my years as a wife and mother of two amazing children. I believe when a space functions well for your family, home life has an opportunity to thrive in a beautiful comforting environment. Everyone needs a space, no matter the size, that is uniquely their own. I also believe that communication is the foundation of every relationship, both personally and professionally. It is imperative to listen to my client’s needs so that I can incorporate and expand upon those requirements when I design their sanctuary. Communication allows the entire interior design process to flow smoothly, reduce stress, and be enjoyable for all parties involved.
Upon graduating from Vanderbilt University, I began my career in the residential construction business. I was a general contractor for a small, thriving company for ten years in my hometown of Lexington, Kentucky while also working as a real estate agent, selling my client’s homes as well as the homes I built. When I moved to Chicago, I gained invaluable experience on several large downtown projects. Working as a trim superintendent on a townhome project, I managed the construction process from the drywall stage to completion. After this project, I transitioned to the “pretty” side of construction where I managed the selection process on a number of downtown high rises. Being a liaison between the buyers and construction companies on different projects, I navigated the buyers’ finish selection desires with the contractors’ limitations. I have a great understanding of the construction process and have helped create beautiful spaces for my clients over the years. I built my own home in Chicago and worked for an interior designer before starting my family. Throughout my career, I have maintained my real estate license and understand what sells homes. I have stayed involved in my family’s business in Lexington which encompasses both residential and commercial real estate.
Upon moving to Colorado in 2017, my husband and I built our own home. I have been involved in so many facets of residential construction and have developed a keen understanding of residential real estate and construction while also developing a keen eye for design.
In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, yoga and traveling with my family.
